Wine closures

Wine closures

For most wine friends, uncorking a wine bottle is a special ritual. Natural cork, the material preliminarily used, is leak-proof, and at the same time it supplies the wine with the right dose of oxygen during longer storage. Disadvantage: “Kork taste” can occur, an off-flavor triggered by a fungal infection of the cork. In the course of time many alternatives for cork have been developed: Today, besides cork, screw caps are used for white and red wines, too.

This is microbiologically safe, and one more advantage is its resealability and its easy handling. We have to emphasize that the closure does not determine the price or quality of a wine. The taste depends on the vintner, and when it comes to our sun-spoilt wines the vintners have been in the focus since ever.
